Cordillo Downs
After leaving Inamincka we headed north to what once was one of Australia’s largest sheep stations, Cordillo Downs. It is a great example of the wool boom of the late 1800’s. Still standing today is the remains of the original Cordillo Downs wool shed constructed mostly of stone.
We stopped here for some time to check out the historic building. It certainly would have a few stories to tell if the stones walls could talk.
We had a few rough sections of road on the way in, and this is where I discovered that my jerry cans on the roof were loose. The ratchet strap and worm straight through, which indicated I didn’t have it tight enough and it was rubbing. A quick fix and we were back on out way.
Cadelga
The roads were very rough and the land very dry. On our way to Birdsville we passed the Cadelga waterhole and the remains of the old Caldelga homestead.
The Cadelga waterhole had so many Carrellas on the banks that I took a video with my drone. Way to many to count.
The Cadelga homestead is a short distance from the waterhole and was our last place to stop before Birdsville.
